- Fall 2004 semester, UI100 Freshmen seminar on Leadership
and Advocacy. This was a new theme course that I developed with the
assistance of Student Affairs professional. First for credit academic
course taught in the residence halls in the past 15 years. Course is
part of the University Studies
program and focused on development of leadership skills and effective
advocacy strategies for students. Course included guest speakers from
the State Legislature, University President, and other prominent community
leaders.
- Spring 2005, Fall 2005, & Spring 2006, PS103 Introduction to US Political Systems.
This course introduces students to basic concepts comprising
contemporary American politics. The course covers issues ranging from
"Separation of Powers," special interest groups, elections and the Missouri
Constitution. The course if offered through the
Department of Political
Science, Philosophy, and Religion.
Associate Director for Facilities and Operations

- Position includes most of the responsibilities of the
Assistant Director for Facilities and was expanded to include additional
professional staff supervision, responsibility for all operational and
business functions of the office.
- Member of central staff decision-making team for the Office of Residence
Life housing 2,600 students in 12 residence halls. Participate in
departmental policy, procedure, and budget review.
- Responsible for the physical management of $120 million in Residence
Life facilities, housing 2,600 residents.
- Responsible for development and management of $25 million
dollar budget.
- Responsible for supervision of Coordinator for
Administrative Operations which manages housing contracts,
roommate selection, cancellation requests, priority sign-up and group
housing occupancy.
- Responsible for supervision of Coordinator for
Business Operations which manages all vending function across campus,
leased properties, and Customer Service Desk management.
- Coordinate custodial, repair, maintenance, and support services work
within the residence halls. Annual budget exceeds $3 million.
- Responsible for maintaining over $2 million in Residence Life inventory,
including assessing condition of inventory and maintaining documentation.
- Responsible for planning all aspects of opening day for 5,000 students,
parents, and friends, including traffic planning, facility scheduling,
staffing, and vendor recruitment.
- Coordinate with the University Center to plan summer camps and
conferences program for 6,000 participants.
- Supervise professional and paraprofessional staff in the management of
the residence halls, including new staff training and on-going training
programs.
- Work with student organizations, such as the Residence Hall Association
and various Residence Hall Councils, to address their facilities concerns.

Facilities on the construction of a $13 million, 85,000 square feet new
residence hall.
- Responsible for the physical management of $120 million in Residence
Life facilities, housing 2,600 residents.
- Developed ten-year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) for all the
residential facilities. Plan includes financing plan and schedule of
maintenance for each year through 2010.
- Coordinate custodial, repair, maintenance, and support services work
within the residence halls. Annual budget exceeds $3 million.
- Develop and manage the daily activities of leased properties, including
the scheduling of maintenance work and decision making on physical
improvements to the properties.
- Develop and implement policy decisions regarding the physical management
of the residence halls. Examples include strategies to address problems with
vandalism, management of the Residence Life inventory, and timely reporting
of facilities concerns to the residence hall population.
- Coordinate service and repair needs for food service vendor, including
preventive maintenance and cleaning.

- Responsible for the enforcement of Residence Life and University
policies, including the adjudication and sanctioning for violations of
Residence Life and University policies.
- Responsible for on-call and emergency duty coverage for the campus
residence halls.
- Established Hall Council, including the development of a hall council
budget.
- Served as Summer Conference Coordinator for summer camps and conference
program.
- Worked with individual camps to provide the residential needs for their
camp or conference, including billing, room assignments, and

- Responsible for softlines area of a K-Mart Store.
- Supervised the store and all operations on rotating schedule.
- Developed fixture and merchandise layouts.
- Sales for departments totaled over $6 million dollars, store sales over
$21 million.
- Responsible for addressing customer complaints.
Greek Renovation Liaison, Southeast

- Summer 1997; 40 hours per week (relocated to Kansas City)
- Worked with University administration in developing renovation plans for
Greek Area.
- Coordinated building design proposals including anticipated costs.
- Prepared proposals for student review.
Greek Hall Director, Southeast Missouri State

University Center Lead Building
Manager, Southeast Missouri State University
- December 1995-August 1997; 15+ hours per week (relocated to Kansas City)
- Supervised a team of six building managers who were responsible for the
operations of the University Center on a rotating schedule.
- Duties included supervising room setups, special event coordination,
managing information desk cash register, supervising student setup crew, and
the recruitment and hiring new building managers.
Project Upward Bound Resident Director (Head Resident),
Southeast Missouri State University
- Summer 1996; 45 hours per week (position was for summer only)
- Coordinated a summer residential education program for forty
low-income/disadvantaged youths. The students were sophomore, juniors, and
seniors from the Southeast Missouri region.
- Planned education trips and weekend activities, including a week long
trip to St. Louis, Missouri.
- Lived in the building with the students and supervised the
Tutor-Counselor staff members who worked with the students. The daily
responsibility for so many teenagers taught me the value of tolerance,
patience, and the value of respect.
Project Coordinator, Southeast Missouri

- August 1995-August 1996
- Worked with two Greek chapters in identifying and addressing chapter
needs; these needs included housekeeping, maintenance, and key requests.
- Other duties included an on-call duty rotation, advising the Greek Area
Council, and developing the Greek Area Community Review Council.

- Served as the paraprofessional staff member for two floors in Dearmont
